RESTO and FOOD REVIEW: Tokyo Bubble Tea Free Food Tasting

Tokyo Bubble Tea's Tomas Morato branch was renovated and re-opened last September 2015. During their soft opening, they offered FREE FOOD TASTING to anyone who will send hem a message / reserve via their Facebook page. And guest what. The promo is back!

From November 20-24, starting 2 until 6 in the evening, this newly-renovated branch will offer free food. You may check this link for more details.
Me and my namjachingu were able to reserve a seat last Friday. I was surprised on how the interiors of the branch looks. It's cute and vibrant! I think this is the first branch with such interiors.

We were welcomed by a friendly crew named Gladyc and informed us on what dish and drink will be served for free. We got the Royal Dragon roll and Berry Fruit C.

The Royal Dragon was the bomb! I love how the ingredients blended well with the sauce. The fish on top of the rice roll was also a great addition to the dish.

Can I have another glass?

Berry FruitC was refreshing. It's not too sweet nor too sour for a fruit juice. It's good. I usually don't order fruit juices other than mango and pineapple. But now, I have another option.
Apart from the freebies, we also got some sweets and milk teas. I ordered my favorite Almond Milk Tea (Php125) and a slice of Roasted Cocoa Mousse cake (Php100). While yeobo got himself the JCC Choco Milk Tea (Php135) and Choco Caramel cake (Php100). By the way, JCC stands for 'Japanese Cheesecake'.

I always love hanging out at Tokyo Bubble Tea. They always have that certain ambiance that makes me feel at ease even when I'm alone and doodling on my sketchbook. Aside from that, they always play my favorite Japanese songs, specifically Arashi. That made me come back for more.

Omi's Review: Kiss Me Thai!

I must really like Aom Suchar and Mike D. Angelo as a couple because I decided to write another review (even thought the drama is still on-going) of their latest lakorn - Kiss Me.

Kiss Me is the Thai version of the hit Itazura na Kiss. This is the fourth remake Kaoru Tada's shoujo manga. I bet that drama fanatics already know that the first live TV series was shown in Japan on the year 1996. Then the manga's biggest hit was Taiwan's version, It Started with a Kiss (2005-2006) followed by its sequel They Kiss Again (2007-2008). Korea's Playful Kiss last 2010 was next. Fans got excited again after another Japanese live version of the hit manga was decided - Mischievous Kiss: Love in Tokyo 1 and 2 (2013 and 2015). And while stalking Mike D. Angelo's Instagram account, a photo with the cast was posted. I honestly did not understand a thing on his post. But his tag 'kissme_thai' confirmed that it will be another sequel of the hit.

The Thai series started last October 5 and will run for 20 episodes. It has also been confirmed that a second season will be aired next year. I just finished watching 10 episodes in one seating (thanks to the subbers). And I must say that this version is good.
Kiss me Thai's plot is a bit different from the other versions. I thought that I might get disappointed with the twist they made, but not. By the way, for those who want a quick synopsis of the drama, here you go:

Taliw (Aom) and Tenten (MikeD) grew up together like twins. Taliw even thought that Tenten was a girl. But Tenten accidentally revealed that he's a boy , that Taliw got disgusted and no longer wants to play with him. Years later, Tenten came back with his family from abroad and was revealed to be a genius with an IQ of 200. However, Taliw grew up to be the opposite. Yet a very cheerful and pretty highschooler, she's a bit o a slow-learner. They met again at Haro International school and became classmates. But because of an unfortunate event, she (together with his dad) was forced to live with his father's bestfriend, who happens to be Tenten's.

I'm really glad that they got Aom and Mike again on this drama. I guess their version of Full House was a hit then. These two really has chemistry! Aom portrayed her character well as a cute and refreshing girl. While Mike (looked like Jack Frost) is still as hot as ever. I wish they're a real couple (although Mike already has a kid, I guess my ship can still sail right?). The on-screen and off-screen sweetness of these two celebrities is unbearable! This is the same feeling I had when I watched the Taiwanese version. Yes. I'm still shipping Joe Chen and Ariel Lin until now.

The supporting cast really did well. All of them suits well with the required scenes. I like her girl friends more on this version. They are not too girly and they're funny as well. Oh by the way, if you've seen A Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Peaw was also part of the supporting cast. King, who has unrequited love for Taliw, is way better than the other versions. I'm glad that they did not make him as stupid as the other remakes did. And by the way, he's good looking.

By the way, the OST are also eargasmic. It's just too hard to sing along because I don't speak Thai :)
I know it's too early to make a review, but I believe that this lakorn will be a hit as well. To be candid with, I think this version is better than the Korean and Japanese versions. I just hope that they'll stick with the drama's momentum and will not be dragging.

RESTO and FOOD REVIEW: Afternoon at Arafu Cafe

I was scheduled to take my laboratory test on that day. We went to the Medicard office to process my confirmation for the blood test, which usually takes a maximum of 15 minutes waiting time. Take note, 15 minutes. However, things got so disappointing when the health staff made us wait or three and a half hours. I was on fasting and was really starving to death.
After that incident at the hospital, we hurried to the mall to have our super late lunch. We want to pig out so we decide to eat at a buffet restaurant. But the queue was too long so we looked for an alternative. Then I remembered that there’s this restaurant, a college classmate raving about – the Arafu Cafe.

My mood immediately changed because upon entering their store, I heard a familiar tune. And it surprised me that they’re playing the songs of my favorite Japanese boyband, Arashi!!! I was so ecstatic that I requested their kind manager to replay the playlist.

Going back, Arafu Cafe is a homey Japanese comfort food restaurant located at SM North EDSA which is its second branch. Their first branch is at The Fort which caters Japanese expatriates living around BGC.

Since it’s our first time at Arafu, we ordered a mouthful of dishes (that’s aside from the takoyaki and milk tea we got from Tamayaki - you may check my blog post about on Tamayaki here). I got myself the Tawara Jr. Hamburg Steak Plate (240Php) in demi-glazed sauce. While shujin had shougayaki chicken (208Php) which is fried chicken with ginger and onion don. We also ordered yasai itame (stir fried vegetable and pork – 240Php) and homemade green tea cookies (P80/6 pcs) for dessert.

All in all , the food were all good. But still, nothing beats the home-style taste of Jipan’s menu when it comes to Japanese comfort food. But I’m pretty sure that I’ll have another trip to this place, because the whole staff is nice. And in addition to that, I would love to listen to Arashi’s hits while eating on that place again.

VIXX Live Fantasia Utopia in Manila Public Press Conference

After more than a month of spazzing over Korea's tallest boy group, VIXX, I'm now ready to share my Utopia Public Presscon experience.

Last May 1st, Pinoy Starlights rushed to SM Fairview's event center to see Cha Hakyeon (N), Jung Taekwoon (Leo), Lee Jaehwan (Ken), Kim Wonsik (Ravi), Lee Hongbin (Hongbin) and Han Sang Hyuk (Hyuk) (more collectively known as VIXX) for their first ever mall appearance here in the country. Fans lined up even before the malls opening to have a nice view of their idols.

Arriving at the venue at around 3 in the afternoon, the event center was jampacked with Starlight PH hopefuls. Geared with their cameras and phones, fans waited patiently for their idols while VIXX's hits were being played. "I do" couple grand winners Kring and Jimmy Kim hosted the pre-event to entertain the fans.

After a couple of minutes, the boys arrived. Everyone went wild as they headed to the stage while waving to the fans. We (I'm with my 남자친구) were at the third floor and although I can see it, younger fans were delirious and crazily screaming over the boys.

To be honest, the only member I know on that group (that time) was Hongbin. I want to know them better during their interview. However, the fans were too energized and could not stop screaming. Tsk tsk tsk. I even noticed that most of them (the members) were quite disappointed with how PH fans acted during the public presscon. They were too loud! And I'm a 101% sure that when they come back here in Manila, they will no longer hold a public event. Yes. Just like when CNBLUE visited us last year. Anyway, I can not blame the fans. How can you control yourself if these heavenly beings are standing in front you? Well, I guess you should try to be cool at least (hahaha I doubt!).

The event ended with the awarding of the dance cover winners. Finally, I was able to see them smile. It must be a tiring day as well for these boys. Travelling from Korea and going straight to the venue must be exhausting.

It was too unfortunate the I was not able to attend their concert the next day. So I promised to watch their concert when they come back.

#ONK2016: 436 Days Left!

안녕하십니까!
It's been a while since I posted an update here in my blog. I've been too busy with my newfound 'love' that I neglected my duties here. 미안! Anyway, I only have a few updates with regards to my wedding plans as we haven't formally shared our plan to tie the knot to our parents. But still, please allow me to give you a heads up on what we've accomplished for the past months.

We've finally booked our photographers and videographers - Cupcake Cinema. Yosha! For a frustrated photographer like me, this is one of the hardest part to decide. I've been searching good and yet affordable photographers for years. However, my fiance would always decline my suggestions as he do not want to spend to much on photos. I have no objections on that. But if for the sake of quality, I would still go for a more expensive with good quality than the cheaper ones. I was lucky that I was able to hunt down Cupcake Cinema. And luckier because we are of the same religion. The owner was really nice and easy to talk with. Besides, their works are really great! Their 40k promo which ended months ago is affordable. Although we have not signed any contract yet, the owner assured us that we can still get their promo by giving them a 3k downpayment.

Not bad right? I'm still undecided on our pre-engagement theme so I haven't contacted them again.

We've also decided to get Madel's Cuisine as our caterer. They're my former classmate's caterer during their October 2012 wedding. And I can proudly say that their food are appetizing. Ms. Anj, the AE, was really nice and the food that was served to us during our food tasting were delicious. However, we have not booked them yet because we still need to book our reception venue first. We are on a budget so Madel's are the best choice for us.

For the first time, I was able to visit Divisoria. Fiance and I roamed around the area and looked for potential wedding gown designers. To be candid, I've already have a designer in mind. But her quotation with my gown design was 30k which exceeds are budget for the gown. Thus we tried the area to scout for a more affordable dress. We were able to quote a 13k gown from a shop. Way cheaper than the quotations I got from some other couturiers. I just hope that the designer we'll choose will not trick us because I've read horror stories of former brides that had bad experiences booking couturiers in that area.

I've finally bought some felt fabrics for my bouquet. For less than 300php, I was able to acquire 8 yards of fabric (2 yards for each colors - blue, red, orange, white). Hoping that I will be able to start it before the end of June.We also purchased locks that I plan to include on my DIY invitation. And oh! My invitation design has also been finalized. We'll just have to look for the paper that suits our theme.

That's it. I only have 436 days to finish all these wedding planning task. Ugh! Hoping that my 'extra-curricular activities' will not get in the way this time.Guide me Kamisama!
