A few walks away from our previous office in Ortigas, you’ll find a little spot between a photocopying shop and a nail boutique. A Korean ramen shop named as Amateur Ramen Korean Restaurant.

The name is not attractive and does not sound Korean at all. But wait until you get inside and taste their ramen. Well technically, they just cook Korean instant noodles for you. Aside from ramyuns, special dishes such as japchae, fried tofu, tteokbokki and kimbap are being offered.

I always end up sitting on this side of their store because of this lovely wall.

And because I know that their ramen will be too spicy, I ordered Jjajang ramen (Php 99) and a whole kimbap (Php 100) instead. By the way, for those who are wondering what a jjajangmyeon or jjajang ramen is, it is a noodle dish topped with thick black soy bean paste and bits of vegetables.
Amateur Ramen
My forever favorite kimbap and jjangmyun.

It was not my first time to eat jjajangmyeon but Amateur Ramen’s version was really tasty. So I ordered the same menu the following day I visited the shop again. I also brought in a batchmate and I finally tried their spicy ramen. I got myself their basic amateur ramen (Php 65) with mild spiciness and some fishcakes (Php 25).

Their stainless water cups are properly organized. I loved it!

These machines are 'noodle cookers'. And oh by the way, their staff are really nice and friendly.
