Omi's Review: Full House Thai
Saturday, April 05, 2014
Do you still remember the family bears? Father bear, mother bear and their baby bear? I bet you all still remember them specially how Song Hye Kyo a.k.a Jessie and Rain a.k.a Justin took us by storm with the Korean romantic-comedy drama Full House. The series was a hit that we even had our own version (but I’m not gonna blog on that because it’s forgettable).
Starring Thai superstar Mike Pirat Nitipaisalkul (popularly known as Mike) and Aom Sucharat Manaying, they gave life to the characters Mike D. Angelo and Aom-Am. Supporting leads were Utt Uttsada Panichkul as Guy and Jane Janesuda Parnto as Mintra.
Jpop lovers are quite familiar with Mike as he used to be a part of the group called GYM, with his brother Golf and Japanese singer-actor Yamashita Tomohisa. And who would forget the good-looking and cheerful VJ of MTV Asia, VJ Utt dating back from 1998 to 2008.
The first few episodes was quite boring. I have high hopes on this series (and I want to see more abs exposure from Mike) so I continued watching the series.. And I’m glad that I did because it became more and more interesting as the show progresses.
The main characters are so adorable. Mike has that manliness and gentle aura in him while Aom is sweet and innocent. They have that certain chemistry that will make you want to see him more. The way they look in their eyes are so natural and romantic.
What I also love about the series is how they use English as their second language. Mike and Utt are fluent speakers so some of their lines / scripts are shifting from Thai to English.
Nothing beats the original series. But from all of the remakes this drama has, I think this version has the most similarities. I can feel the same vibe I had when I watched the Korean version. Other similarities are that of Mike and Rain. Both actors exude hotness and are singers and exceptional dancers at the same time. Aom and Hye Kyo on the contrary are quite different. Song Hye is a veteran when it comes to acting while Aom, needs more practice as she has ha tendency to overact on some scenes. But don’t get me wrong, I still adore her cuteness in this lakorn.
I don’t want to spoil how the Thais did their version. All I can say that it’s a must watch series. I know that most Filipino household would still prefer watching a Mario Maurer series or drama, than wasting their time watching a series that includes Thai celebrities they don’t know. But this drama won’t fail you. This is the best time to also see other actors and actresses.
Give it a try and relive the magic of Full House.
