RESTO and FOOD REVIEW: Feasting like a Viking
Friday, March 28, 2014
Everybody knows that Vikings, a huge buffet restaurant that offers dishes from around the globe, that they have this free dine-in promo for those who are celebrating their birthday. Oh well! The original plan was to avail the promo last June 2013 at SM Mall of Asia. for my birthday. But shujin ruined everything on my day even making me cry. So I promised starting that day, that I will never celebrate my birthday with him.
Okay. Going back, it's now his turn to finally get a taste of Vikings' sumptuous meals. We visited their SM North branch instead because it's nearer.
We arrived at around 11 in the morning and we fell in line for a few minutes. Then, the receptionist assisted us to our seat. Shujin and I only had bread and a cup of coffee and chocolate for breakfast. So we came in at Vikings pretty hungry.
There was a huge selection of food ranging from Asian to Western cuisine. I'm a certified Japanophile, so I hurried first to the Japanese section. I filled up my first plate with maki, sushi, sashimi and tempura. I had two rounds before transferring to the Korean and Chinese stations where I got bibimbaps and dumplings. On the contrary, shujin was already on his fifth round and now rummaging the seafood section.
I rested for a few minutes before walking towards the salad bar. I'm now into salads so looking at all those green and leafy vegetables on that bar is heaven for me. I got myself some Caesar’s salad and added caviars on it.
That was my last plate before making my way to the dessert station. At that moment, I’m really trying to stuff all the food in my tummy. I thought I had too many glasses of four seasons that’s why I’m feeling bloated. The birthday boy was experiencing the same dilemma. What would you expect to a man having seven rounds of dishes? Hahahaha. I bet he tried every food from the different stations (hashtag gluttony).
Aside from the unlimited buffet Vikings offer, another reason I wanted to celebrate his birthday on that restaurant was because of the birthday greetings the staffs do for the celebrant. I still wanted shujin to experience that. Unfortunately, we can’t take it any longer as our stomach might explode any time. It was a holiday and there were too many celebrants on that day, so our turn is taking too long. So we just paid the bill and went home to rest. I still wanted to roam around the mall and watch a movie, but we have no choice.
It was a very fun and memorable experience. Next time we’ll be visiting Vikings, we’ll make sure not to drink too much beverage and just get a piece of every dish. Nevertheless, we enjoyed the day, specially my fiancĂ© who celebrated his natal day.
