The Croughnuts Chronicles

After the milk tea invasion, now croughnuts/cronuts ( croissant + doughnut ) has been popping out at every corner. And I've been hearing it a lot.
So what is really a croughnut/cronut? Wikipedia states that..
it is croissant merged with doughnut, which was attributed to chef Dominique Ansel for Dominique Ansel Bakery in New York City
To make it simple, a hybrid of croissants and doughnuts. I sampled different cronuts from different establishments and here are my ratings.
Le Coeur De France
The chewiness of the bread and its tasty fillings made Le Coeur de France's croughnuts on top of my list. They have eight flavors (I think) but I only tried Parmesan Cheese (baked croughnut filled with whipped cream cheese and topped with parmesan cheese) and Caramel Pistachio (baked sugar glazed croughnut filled with caramel custard on top of white chocolate, sprinkled with crushed pistachio and caramel drizzle) flavored-croughnuts. These flavorful treats only cost Php 89.00 - a better alternative for Wildflour's cronuts which is pricier.
My personal favorite among their cronuts is the Caramel Pistachio because I love nuts. Adding to it is the sweetness level which just fine.

Krispy Kreme
Second on my list is Krispy Kreme's Kroissants.
I can't remember the last time I ate at Krispy Kreme. After being diagnosed with a fatal disease, I cut down my consumption on instant noodles, processed food and dougnuts.For doughnuts, since I have a sweet tooth, I tried to eat once every six months. You call it torture, i call it healthy living.
And with the latest cronut craze and cravings for sweet treat, I tried their kroissants. Krispy Kreme's latest offering comes in four different flavors - Apple Cinnamon, Vanilla Cream, Strawberry and Chocolate. I bought Apple Cinnamon ( which I forgot to take a picture) and Chocolate.
Apple cinnamon is my favorite. It's sweet and tangy taste has the perfect fusion making it not too sweet.

SM Super Market's Cronut
I'm an adventurer when it comes to food. I don't care if a food has a name or not. As long as it smells and it looks good, I'll try it. But my senses failed me when I purchased some cronuts being sold at SM Supermarket. It looked appetizing and smelled really good. However, upon biting the bread, I was so disappointed. Three reasons - (1) the icing was too sweet, (2) the filling tasted like the bavarian-flavored donut from a local store, and lastly (3) we can't even bite and chew the bread because it was unpleasantly chewy! We just threw it away and promised to never eat that product again.

Soon, I'll try Anybody's, Cha Time and WildFlour's versions. I just need to make sure I'm not taking too much sugar :)
