RESTO and FOOD REVIEW: Food Adventure at Slappy Cakes and Pho Hoa
Saturday, October 05, 2013
This post has been delayed for weeks now. I've really wanted to post an entry about our recent food adventure, but I've been into a not-so-good week because something awful happened).
We were not able to celebrate our 10th year together as a couple on the day itself because we both have work. So when Friday came, shujin and I had a date. Yatta! And we decided to feed ourselves in another Asian restaurant.

Ăn nà o! Turning Vietnamese at Pho Hoa
For the past months, my shujin and I have been eating out on different Asian fast foods and restaurants. We've tried, Korean, Japanese, Singaporean and Thai food. So what to try next? Hmmmm. I've always wanted to know what Vietnamese noodles taste likes so I dragged him to Pho Hoa,
I wonder how hot this sauce is.
Vietnamese feast!!!
It was our first time in a Vietnamese food house so I really don't know why they served us with bean sprouts. Hehehe. Fail!
Pho Ga: Chicken Noodles Soup
Fresh Vegetarian Spring Rolls. But I prefer the sauce more than the dish.
What's this again? Gaah! I can't remember :(
Iced Tea.
I'll be having my lab test the following day and it required fasting, so we ate everything. We're so full. It's just sad to know that my shujin did not like the food. He kept on saying that everything we ate were bland, tasteless. Well for me, the food is great. I had fun eating a hot bowl of Pho Ga and putting bean sprouts and spices on it.
So if you are not much of a carnivore and looking for a healthier alternative, Pho Hoa is a great place to fill up your tummy.

Slap Me! Slappy Cakes!
I always been on my food adventure list ever since it opens its first branch at Eastwood. We seldom go to Eastwood (where it's first branch was located) as it's out of our way. Good thing that last July, their second branch opened at SM The Block.
We arrived at UST at around 10AM. We waited for a couple of minutes and my nurses immediately called me to take my blood samples. Yosha! I'm done! Fasting for almost 10 hours was not easy. So I was really glad that the procedure is finished and I can finally eat and drink.
And because OnK's 10th year anniversary celebration is not yet finished, I've decided to fill our tummy at Slappy Cakes.
If you think only Korean restaurants have grills on their table, think again dear. Slappy Cakes is an all-day breakfast restaurant, which offers a one-of-a kind dining - making your own pancakes right at your dining table. All you have to do is choose a batter, pick some fixins, add some toppings and HAVE FUN ^_^
Complimentary Syrups: Honey and Mango
We chose the Buttermilk batter (225php); then the fixins were shredded coconut (40php), salted eggs (45php), white cheese (80php), lemon curd (80php) and bananas (45php).
The first three fixins are for my shujin because he wants a 'bibingka-like' pancake. While, I chose the other two because I've wanted something fruity and healthy. And it turned out that his pancake bibingka won over mine.
These ingredients alone already cost Php515! To think it's only for the pancake which taste the same as another fastfood's hotcake. I think we'll just stick with two-three fixins when we visit the store again.
Assorted Mushroom Scramble (240php) for my grumbling tummy.
Mouthful! I'll order this again when we comeback!
Tocino Tociyes (250php) for shujin.
I didn't get to taste this dish because shujin was so hungry that he finished eating in a flash.
Omi and Keishii's creations!
Our parents always tell us, when we were kids not to play our food. But if your at Slappy Cakes, this rule is an exception. You can play with your batter and make different shapes for your pancake masterpiece. Just make sure to have enough budget when you dine in as this 'make-your-own-pancake' experience is quite pricey.
