RESTO and FOOD REVIEW: Trip to Akiba Cafe
Friday, February 01, 2013I was always intrigued in this tiny and yet sophisticated Japanese cafe situated at SM Megamall's Building A, 2nd Floor Hallway. Everytime I look at their cakes in their chiller, my mouth starts to water. And the beverage menu is quite exciting as well. I know that you're itching to know that the name of this cozy dessert shop. It's Akiba Cafe - the first Japanese cafe here in the metro.
Opened last July of 2011, this hub is no doubt attracting not only loyal customers, but also coffee lovers, tea drinkers, shoppers and even those who's just curious of its menu.
Pardon my blurry shot. I only had my outdated camera phone that time we visited Akiba Cafe. |
Lucky I was able to dine in at Akiba Cafe last December (finally!). I was looking for a new shop which can cater my weird cravings for Asian drinks, so I wanted to try their menu. I used to be a sucker for mik teas, but I stopped drinking it after reading an article about its harmful effects. I don't want to have coffee as well because my tummy frequently grumbles after I started my medication. And I was really hoping to find what I'm looking for in this shop.
Yosh! Let's start it off with the drinks.
The Drinks
Me and my shujin can't decide what to order and the staff recommended to try their Trife drinks.
Better than your usual tea. That's what Akiba is claiming on their most wanted drink.
Tasting the foamy trifle cream on top of the coffee and/or tea is really heaven. Shujin says it tastes like ice cream. For me, it resembles a version of my favorite Rock Salt Cheese of Happy Lemon. The only difference is that the trifle cream is much sweeter and tastier, which I prefer than the latter.
Jasmine Trifle Tea for me. |
Signature Trifle Kohi for shujin. |
Macadamia Iced Drink |
(You know what happened after, I kept on coughing and my tooth ached. Crap. So my plan of having the drink of every month has been changed to once every two months. I don't want to have diabetes because of this kekeke.)
Peanut Butter Choco Chiru |
We had Green Tea Cheesecake and Tiramisu for our dessert.
It was hard deciding what cake to order because I want them all. But since I've read reviews stating their Green Tea cheesecake is really good and a best seller, I ordered it.

What I also love about this cafe aside from their delicious beverages and delightful cakes, are the friendly and accommodating staffs. Kudos for their management team for hiring such wonderful people.
Our Akiba Cafe trip was quite fun. We got to taste not only Japan but also heaven on their menu. And for people who's looking for a new spot to chill, relax and unwind, this little hub in Megamall is really the best place. Thumbs up!
